On my Bookshelf – Blogtember #12

Reading

The Blogtember challenge for day #12 is to share a book I’ve read, one I’m reading and one I would like to read.  The past two years I have really tried to make time to read again.  I enjoy a good book but often put this on the back burner but have actually logged 10 books this year.  For some of you who read this in a month I’m sure you are laughing but for me, there have been years I have read zero so I’m super proud.  Here is what I’ve been reading and what I’m looking forward to starting.

I haven’t read Gone Girl but based on what I’ve heard I believe this may be similar.  It was definitely a little more demented than Girl on a Train. I read this book over a 24 hour period and could not put it down until it was done.
The Royal We

I’m currently about 3/4 of the way through this book and have just not found time to settle in and finish.  I’m definitely drawn in and the further along I get the more I want to take a mental health day and stay in bed all day just to see how this ends!  Here is a little excerpt.

Uninvited

My friend Holly has been sending me little tidbits from this book all month and I am super excited to read it next.  I really think any woman out there can find a way to relate to this book and find some peace reading it.  Lysa is an amazing woman of the word but she has a way to identify with even the loneliest soul and find a way to make you feel perfectly normal for having all the crazy thoughts. Here is the excerpt.

In Uninvited, Lysa shares her own deeply personal experiences of rejection–from the perceived judgment of the perfectly toned woman one elliptical over to the incredibly painful childhood abandonment by her father. She leans in to honestly examine the roots of rejection, as well as rejection’s ability to poison relationships from the inside out, including our relationship with God.

I’m super excited to read all the books to be shared to day!

  1. I am the same way, there were zero read book years in there for me too, so super proud of any I read now. I now find myself reading more since the tow are in college and I am enjoying it. Pretty Girls is on my list!! Happy Monday!

  2. I read Pretty Girls and loved it. Just finished the Last Anniversary by Liane Moriarty last night but I didn't love it so now I'm on the hunt for another great read!

  3. I just bought Uninvited last week. It's really good so far, but I haven't had much time to dive into it. I'm looking forward to it, though! I'm on page 4 & have already marked four places to share with Kendall!

  4. I have heard a lot of great things about Uninvited and i think you are the 3rd or 4th person on blogtember today who either wants to read it or is currently reading it so I need to check this book out soon!

  5. I'm happy to report I've actually READ 2.5 books from your picture!!! Yay me! You know how big of an accomplishment this is for me!

  6. Guess who lives about an hour from me? Lysa T. Yep. Her husband owns one of the Chickfilas in Charlotte. Crazy right? I haven't read that book yet but plan to pick it up BEFORE October starts. I enjoy all her books since they hit home. I read Gone Girl and I was pissed. Now you have my interest peaked on your royal book…hmmm?!?! xoxoxo

  7. Isn't it fun to share with your girl?!! Carly and I went to Secret Keeper Girls last night and I was just so emotional. I just know so much more now and have my head on so much straighter than I did when I was trying to lead Jordan through the teen years. I feel into so many dumb traps as a teen and just couldn't dig myself out…so want more for my girls!

  8. Funny story…..I read Liane Moriarty Big Little Lies last month…except until I was almost done I didn't realize I was reading like the cliff note version. LOL…I felt like such an idiot. I read almost the entire thing thinking it was a bunch of little chapters giving me like some sort of preface or something. haha
