Show and Tell Tuesday – A {Mon}day in the Life

·
It’s another Show and Tell Tuesday with Andrea from Momfessionals and today I’m giving you a glimpse into a day into a day of my life.
Mom  – Shelly – Work Outside the Home Mom 8ish-5ish
Dad – Keith – Commutes 100 miles each way
Dillon – typical teen who knows everything and shares nothing
Carly Jo – 10 year old who also knows everything but is willing to share everything

Mondays I typically sleep in instead of going to the gym and after getting up at 4:18 with Dutch due to the thunder storms I pushed it all the way to 6:30.

Coffee is always my first stop.  Keith leaves around 5:30am so he always has the pot ready to go and his coffee is the best

I settled in for 15 minutes or so to link up with a few of my favorites and scroll through a couple of blogs.
I washed my face and used my current combo of the Reverse line with Redefine multi-function eye cream (I also add to the fine lines around my mouth) and Redefine day cream before adding makeup. I consider myself super lucky because my littles actually wake up on their own and are super self sufficient in the mornings.

Carly has psoriasis which we just couldn’t get a handle on even after receiving a prescription med.  I finally decided to set an alarm on my phone each morning and each night and we are going on about 45 days now.

I am so happy to see there is really no noticeable irritation any longer.  Poor girl, for years I just thought she was crawling around on her knees too much at school.

It was terrible lighting due to lots of rain but here we are on the way to school.  Carly’s school starts at 7:55 and Dillon’s around 8:15 so we make the rounds and thankfully we were early enough to miss too much traffic which usually sucks when it’s raining.

I ran back home to make sure the bathroom was empty and let the tile guys in.  Eek….master shower demo today!

Breakfast is my favorite and I made a little scramble with leftover fajita fixings.  I suck at making it pretty but it sure was yummy.

Just the right amount of traffic for my commute to work which is only about 8 miles.  I really do consider this one of the plusses to living here.

10:15 and it was snack time so I nibbled on a few blackberries.

This was pretty much my view the remainder of the day.  Typically I stand for about half to 3/4 of the day and sit for a part but today I stood all day long.  No meetings meant I was more productive for sure.

4:30 and it was time for my favorite drink of the day!  I am seriously addictive to Spark and it gives me just the boost I need to make it through to bedtime.

 Again, evening commute is pleasant!

Picked up Dillon from his pitching lesson at 5:30

Grabbed Carly Jo from ballet at 5:45 and bonus was able to visit with Holly for 15 minutes!

Keith’s uncle passed away last Friday morning so he was late coming home as he needed to be with his family at visitation.  No Keith meant no formal dinner and I seriously grabbed my favorite snack of Julio’s hot sauce and chips.  #iwillneverlosethesehips

Keith needed a new white shirt to wear to the service on Tuesday so I headed out to pick one up.  I also managed to grab some new sheets and additional hangars with my 20% Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons.  We rub our feet together…both of us…so we always end up with a huge hole in the flat sheet.
Carly & I emptied the dishwasher

This is my last year to be the treasurer for the elementary PTO and we have a meeting this week so I needed to spend a little time making sure the bank account was reconciled.  After 3 years I’m so glad to be handing this one off.

Finished rinsing the fruit we bought Sunday.  Have you ever added vinegar to the water?  You know how apples have that waxy film?  Well soaking in vinegar and water takes care of that and seems to make the fruit last longer.   It’s possible the fruit being clean just makes my family eat it faster but who knows.

I know it’s only Monday but at 8:30 I decided why not.  I mean it had been open since Friday and I didn’t want it to go bad.

The kids decided bacon was the preferred choice for their dinner.  Dillon ate bacon and only bacon.

I put together a pot roast, potatoes and carrots in the crockpot for tomorrow while I waited on the bacon.  I love using a combo of broth, lipton onion soup mix and cream of mushroom.  Of course if you have someone who needs to avoid salt this would not be the preferred combo!

Little bit had a piece of toast with homemade strawberry jam with her bacon.

I finally made it to my bedroom for a little Gilmore Girls while folding a load of laundry.  I did not make it to put said laundry away.

And then I put on my Redefine mask and settled in with my wine to watch one last episode of Gilmore Girls.  This master renovation has every inch of my bathroom and bedroom covered in a layer of dust.  I can make it until they are done…I can make it until they are done.   I may need more wine.
Oh….Keith finally made it home at 9:30 and I’m about to finish this post and head to snuggle.  #tmi
I would love to have more days that are routine but that just doesn’t seem to happen round her often.
Hope you all have a fabulous week!
If Show and Tell is your thing….here are more post from this series!

  1. I love that you have a standing desk!! I need to get a note from my doctor to make that happen!! Would be so much better than sitting all day! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

  2. Loved your day in the life! You should have snap chatted me that you were drinking and I would have GLADLY joined you! #friendsdontletfriendsdrinkalone

  3. Keith commutes 100 miles each way! I would die. Ain't nobody got time for that 🙂
I need more details about this standing desk. Your feet don't hurt at the end of the day? Bacon for dinner happens often in our house. Like Dillon, Bryson will eat just bacon. I have to cook the whole dang package.

  4. Love reading this! I like clean fruit too and use vinegar for washing. My commute is only 8 miles too, 8.1 to be exact. And I so need to get on the ball and start using R&F products, do you love them? You are even cute as a button with your face mask on!!! And I am asking the head honcho for a standing desk stat!!! 😉

  5. He does girl….he was working in Austin when we got married and the first two years we lived apart..really think that's why we made it! haha We didn't want to move my bigs away from their dad plus my job was hard to leave. Anyway….love my standing desk. Yes if I try to wear heals the entire time my feet will begin to hurt but at first I noticed the most in my lower back. I just finally got a squishy mat (stand and be fit mat) and it has helped so much with the lower back. Yesterday and today I have been standing exclusively. I have hip issues ever since doing a couple of half marathons and sitting just causes them to ache so this is an improvement.

  6. Definitely get a standing desk! It is so much better for active girls like us! I love my R&F products, especially the eye cream and the microderm abrasion paste. I used only those two for ages before I finally decided to be a consultant.

  7. I've heard great things about Spark !! I usually sip a cup of afternoon coffee to keep me going !

  8. I ha ve never heard that about the washing of fruit in vinegar but will definitely give that a whirl! And of course you have to finish that wine! Otherwise its alcohol abuse! LOL Have a great rest of your week!!

  9. I love that your son just wanted bacon for dinner! That's too funny. 100 miles each way? I was a nervous wreck when Tate had to drive 80 miles round trip, but then again the interstate he had to travel was a dangerous one! I've never tried vinegar to clean my apples – I'll have to check that out.

  10. For real…who wouldn't just eat bacon if it didn't end up on the hips?!! I do worry about it sometimes for sure..last year he hit a huge deer and almost totaled his car at 5 in the morning but for at least 5 more years (I can retire then..and yes I started working when I was 12) this is our life. Have a super day Leah!
