Black & White Stripes

Who doesn’t love black and white?  It is such a classic combo and always makes me feel pulled together.  Add stripes and it’s even better!  I scored this Topshop dress in December on sale for $29 and I wasn’t sure the stripes would work for me but the fabric is thick and the turtleneck definitely helps give the appearance of longer and leaner.   Similar dress here.
I have been dying to recreate this outfit since last year but I managed to ruin my most favorite winter striped dress after washing instead of dry cleaning.  I had almost given up before finding this dress.

I love the polished look of this field jacket and it is definitely one of my favorite pieces to carry across seasons.  J. Crew has a very similar one right now that also comes in a wine color that I really have my eye on.  I love this one.

I almost always reach for this scarf with stripes on a cold Texas morning. Since a boutique owner showed me a different way to tuck the ends back under I have loved it even more.

Of course I almost always have to add tights or leggings with dresses especially for work as my legs definitely make it appear shorter than it actually is. I don’t mind though as I think it adds the perfect touch with my Frye boots.

Last week I was feeling particularly sassy and decided to pair my leopard coat with stripes.  I bought this coat last year from Forever 21 and tried to return it but was one day past the return date.  I’m thinking lucky me!  A similar coat can be found here and here.

Look it’s my favorite $12 ring again!  I seriously love this ring so much and even ordered in silver.  If you want to splurge I hear the Bony Levy is a nice choice but I honestly can tell you I have received tons of compliments on this one

My neutral Kendra Scott earrings and the Stella & Dot Kimberly necklace always make the perfect accessories too.

I am so excited about this striped dress and I know I will find so many ways to wear it!  What is your way to wear stripes?

  1. What?! The ring comes in silver too?! Happy Valentine's Day TO ME! 🙂 Love the black and whit combo – you know it's one of my personal favs!

  2. Such a pretty outfit on you, and I especially love it with the leopard coat! You wear the blanket scarf so well – I can't quite figure mine out!

  3. I love striped dresses and cannot stop buying them. I own one just like yours but a midi length. Plus I just bought a new sweater striped dress from Gap. They look great with this blanket scarf and I need an olive field jacket, plus your jewelry is awesome. The boots, necklace and ring are all perfect.

Welcome by. Have a great day Shell!

  4. So so fun!! I adore how you find so many different ways to wear your dresses!! That leopard coat is Ahhhmazing!! Black and white is such a classic pair that I know will be around for eternity, the perfect canvas to add all kinds of goodies to like your awesome scarf, boots and jackets!! Just love!!

  5. I never thought a striped dress could be so fun to style until I bought one last spring. My favorite of your styles is with the military jacket and scarf! And, yes! I eat popcorn everyday, too! They say it's killing our brain cells from popping it in the microwave. That's probably why I can't remember anything anymore! Have a great Wednesday, Shelly!

  6. I would use the money to redecorate my bedroom. Change is my new years resolution. I love decorating my room with brand new paint, wallpaper, etc. I absolutely love your outfit by the way 🙂 The topshop dress is beyond gorgeous!

  7. I love the stripes, but I really love how you had these two completely different looks. The casual look is definitely something I would wear everyday and that leopard jacket is stunning! Thanks for linking up with me today, hope to see you next week and I'll be pinning this look to the link up board.

  8. So fun to see you doing the giveaway too! I am NOT a pattern mixer, but I always see others do it and think it looks so cute and fun. Especially the plaid. I really should be more bold.

  9. Beth until about a year and 1/2 ago I was not a pattern mixer either. I totally have always been the type of person who shopped at stores where outfits were put together for me because I couldn't create one on my own. It has been so much fun stepping out and I feel like my closet has expanded by 3!

  10. I don't even want to count the number of stripe dresses in my closet, they are such a versatile piece. Love the different ways you've styled it!

Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next week. Have a great weekend!

  11. I sooo love that leopard coat…oh my is so gorgeous and looks great with stripes! I need to get into mixing patterns, it goes against my grain..ha ha, but it is so in….great style !!

  12. I want to spend a lot of time with my family this year because my Dad was going through cancer treatment all of last year. He was in the hospital for a few months and we didn't get to go on any trips so I think I would use this money for a day trip or two so we could spend some quality time out in the world together.
