2015 Favorite Outfits

Queen's closet

2015 has been such a fun year for me in the fashion arena.  I have learned to step outside my box by mixing patterns I never dreamed I could and doing so at least doubled the outfits in my closet.  Skeptical at first, I am now fully convinced leopard really is a neutral.  Less is more and more is more have both become little mottos.  Having more clothes doesn’t necessarily provide me more to wear if I’m not able to “see” the bigger picture and create multiple outfits.  More expensive sometimes really is the way to go with some items and I’m all about a splurge here and there for something I know is going to last me a long time and be worn over and over again.  I also use to think all the colors I was wearing had to match exactly too and this past year I’ve learned as long as they blend well it can still look pulled together!

I thought it would be fun today to take a look back at some of my favorite outfits as well as some of the outfits receiving the most views for 2015!

{January}

January in Texas….you just never know what you are going to get but I was happy to be able wear some heavier clothes and loved adding a fun top like this pink gingham or buffalo plaid under a cable knit sweater.  Forever 21 did me a favor when I tried to return this leopard coat one day after the return date….it became a fun little addition to my closet!

{February}

Red was obviously one of my favorite colors for February!  I highlighted two ways to wear a fun sweater as well as a date night outfit in Everyday Style and showed how I would dress up a a black lace dress by using a Pop of Red.

{March}

It can still be cool in Texas in March but as the temps warmed up I added some spring colors and a pop of floral.   Beginning to test out pattern mixing with my first floral & stripes combo.  I still love this little dress from Loft and really think I’ve missed some opportunities this fall and winter to wear it with boots.  A lightweight cardigan in a fun color is always a great option for spring or fall in Texas.

{April}

March was all about adding fun accessories with a pop of pink or a fun necklace!  Floral also became a new obsession for me and I was super excited to score the first top at J. Crew…a swimsuit cover up no less…and the second from Target!    Obviously I LOVED these shoes and they were on season two and sadly have been retired and judging by these pictures I am sure going to miss them!

{May}

May was a super busy month and I could not have been happier with the cage heels which were the perfect office style!  Again, adding lots of fun patterns and spring colors made the month more fun and I’m always looking for ways to take an outfit from work to play.   I also showed how I would wear one dress three ways.

{June}

I was thrilled to score this fun Escapada top and tassel clutch from a local boutique in June.  They were definitely huge additions to my summer wardrobe.  I also showed off my favorite summer shoes.

{July}

July was such a fun month and I loved wearing all my summer clothes and trying to stay cool.  Another floral & stripe combo which is one of my all time favorites and I found a new way to wear my polka dot skirt!  J. Crew Shorts were definitely heavy in rotation as were cool dresses that are fun & flirty.  One of my favorites was posing with a little miss & me combo.

{August}

In August I scored this super cute striped dress and began wearing some of my favorite purchases from the Nordstrom anniversary sale.  I also was loving my leopard belt and shoes!

{September}

In September I took a dress from day to date, loved some marsala & leopard and gave a little Aggie game day preview.  I also managed to combine some plaid & stripes and created a few flat lays while I was away at a conference.

{October}

Oh Style Challenges!  My life changed again when I found all these super fun style challenges on Instagram and began playing along!  Stripes and plaid, camo and plaid, floral and polka dots, plaid and polka dots…oh my goodness I created some fun stuff that I never would have considered previously.  There was some other fun fall fashion inspiration not shown here as well!  Too much fun in fall.

{November}

November I was obviously mad about plaid and showing 4 fun ways to wear a floral dress.  I was able to get away for a little business trip to San Diego where I found some California stripes and some trips to Target to score a two treasures.

{December}

I was flattered to be asked to prepare a Holiday Style post for a Texas Bloggers Christmas blogshop!  And this floral and stripe combo was taken out to play not once but twice!  I am also still loving any chance to wear my J. Crew Vest….it was a splurge but the color was worth it.
So that’s it!  My year of outfits in review.  I seriously have had so much fun putting outfits together that are not “matchy matchy” for the first time in my life.  Don’t get me wrong, I still love a good matching outfit!  I have gained so much inspiration from so many bloggers I follow as well as those on Instagram.  Getting dressed every day is now full of fun instead of feeling like a chore!
Wishing you all the best dressed 2016!

  2. Keep it up, cutie! You inspire us with every outfit! Personally, I love that you are my Texas neighbor and our wardrobes are similar. 🙂

  3. To say that you have had such an amazing year style-wise is the biggest understatement. I loved loved how thorough and neat this recap was. I too am recapping my 2015 month by month and I am glad I am not the only one. As I was catching up with your blog, through this post, I 'ran' into some posts I had missed too. So don't mind all the comments today. Looking back and forth through your collages, I think my most favorite months are February, July and October. I also loved your mommy+daughter style post where you both wore matching striped halter dresses and I actually ended up getting the black+white version of that Old Navy dress myself. Also the winter white+gold striped fancy dress you wore in December and the bold floral top+gray striped dress (as a skirt) you wore in December were two of my most favorite outfits of yours last year and I remember them vividly.

    Once again, have a very happy and very stylish 2016 my friend. And enjoy the weekend! <3 Ada.

I think it is fun to step out of the comfort zone at times, and I am workin on that..did a bit with the leather leggings. Best wishes in 2016!
