Waiting on……Spring Break
I know, I know I just got back from vacation yesterday and I’m already ready for another!! The daylight savings on top of changing time zones coming home had me feeling like a zombie my first day back at work. So today I’m linking up with my friend Holly for her Waiting on Wednesday Link Up and a few other fun bloggers for Wine’d Down Wednesday (link at bottom of page).
Working at a university we do not have the entire week off but this year we are off 3 days. Since baseball is pretty much consuming our weekends right now, I really like to try and do something fun with the Littles that does not revolve around traveling to a game. Carly especially does NOT consider watching baseball a vacation!
Sometimes the best vacations are the ones where you stay close to home. It does not have to be expensive to create a day of fun for your family. I thought I would share a little “day-cation” we had a few years back that my kids thought was so much fun. We had an ABC day and toured Texas A&M University looking for ways to create a picture for every letter of the alphabet. This is super easy and just requires a little thinking outside the box.
If you have a university, a zoo, a local park, a museum or even just walking around downtown would totally work. It’s a win, win because there is less complaining when they are thinking of ways to cross off another letter and every one will be ready for a nap when you are done!
My kids think “swimming” in the fountains on campus is the bomb. Thankfully we haven’t gotten busted yet. Bonus if you happen to run into your best friends while having lunch at the Dixie Chicken! Double bonus for thinking of the environment!
I have worked for Texas A&M for 23 years and take for granted all the things I still have not seen on campus. Lots of great history!
And maybe, just maybe a little brainwashing and infusion of the Aggie Spirit!
Literally friends this “Day-cation” cost me the price of lunch and my time spent walking around with these two cuties. The kids still talk about this day as much as they talk about our “real” vacations. So if you are looking at everyone else’s fun vacation pix on Instagram and Facebook and yes, even in the blog world…get off your tush and go make some fun memories with your kids!
Hope you all have a memorable and safe Spring Break!
You KNOW how much I absolutely LOVE this!!! I don't think I ever saw all the pics – they are fabulous!!! Remind me to tell you about something I found that Holden and I (and the other two if they want to) are doing on campus when we get back. It would be fun for you guys to join us (and a way for us to see parts of campus we've never seen before!). And, can we talk about how little your kids look?! Holy cow – they grew up over night!
Would love to join the fun!! Dillon seriously outgrew me while I was gone!!! He is now a 1/2 inch taller…I wasn't ready 🙁
Absolutely love this post! Putting on my list of things to do this summer. Thanks for the idea.
Thanks Misty! It is so fun and super easy and your littles will love it!
What a fun and cute idea!!!!!
