Show & Tell Tuesday – My Favorite Room

·
Linking up with Andrea for her Show & Tell linkup.
We have lived in our house for almost 12 years and it is still such a work in progress.  I had such a hard time choosing a room and when it came down to it I had to show two.
In September I actually wrote What’s On My Project List as part of Andrea’s “What’s On” series.  This was my inspiration.  We purchased a king size bed almost two years ago and it took me 15 months to finally track down nightstands.  I wanted something different and happened across these in Roundtop this past fall.  They are non traditional and totally not something I normally would have chosen but they have metal tops and I instantly fell in love and just knew they would complete my space.  Hobby Lobby mirrors happened to be 50% off the same weekend so I was one step closer to having my bedroom a little cozier.  I would like to add a yellow blanket and some new pillows so I’m on the lookout and new lamps cannot happen soon enough!
I brought home this desk from my grandmothers and it had been sitting in my garage until last month when I finally decided it needed a better home.  I’m still not positive it will live here forever but for now I’m liking it.  I have an old chest of drawers I am currently working on as well that will act as a TV stand once it is complete.
This picture from West Elm was my original inspiration!  I have an amazing chandelier from my grandmothers also but so far I have not convinced Keith to drop the ceiling fan!
And this rug has been in my cart for months and hopefully I’ll pull the trigger soon as I think it would be perfect!  All I will have left is some additional seating and a bench for the end of the bed.
I seem to spend a lot of time in the kitchen and this is my view looking into the living area where my family is often watching TV.  I love that I can see my bedroom from this viewpoint as well.  Side note….tulips are my favorite and Kroger has been running a special so I have been trying to keep a few fresh flowers in the house.
I sit in the plaid chair on weekend mornings and after the kids bed time to read and often write my blogposts.  I love seeing the pictures of my family all around as well as the seasonal decor on the mantel. My kidos are often watching TV in the front room so I can spy them from this viewpoint too.
I am not very good at putting things together.  I know what I like when I see it but I have absolutely no eye for design.  I was super excited when I put together the gallery wall all by myself inspired by a painting by my uncle many moons ago.
And am I the only one who could decorate my entire house with subway style art?
I’ve gotten way better but still could use some help organizing items on the bookcase.
The view from my front door.
The next item on my big wish list is a new sofa.  The corner fireplace makes it a little difficult but I really want a leather sectional for more seating space.  The living area could also use a rug but good night there are so many choices!!
I can’t wait to see all the rooms linked up!

  1. I love your bedroom!! It looks so cute….I think the mirrors on both sides of the bed are awesome!! I love a good Hobby Lobby buy! 😉

    1. Thank you Megan! I fell like my house will never be completed but my bedroom is oh so close! Hobby Lobby…I have a love hate relationship….but these are true love….my pocket book typically hates when I walk in there!

  2. Your house looks SO good!!! Oh, a yellow blanket on the end of your bed – perfect!!! And, I love your grandmother's desk! I'm a sucker for anything sentimental! Great job, girl – and I think you completely sell yourself short with an eye for design!

    1. I'm considering having that desk painted but Keith was really trying to convince me not too because it is a "real" wood desk and still in amazing condition. I measured last night and it may make it's way into my living room. Who knows! I love touches of yellow but seriously have the hardest time trying to find the "right" yellow. Thanks friend!

    1. Thank you Nikki! I visited a friend who had a similar…ok that's a lie it was exact…letter combo from Hobby Lobby and I instantly knew it was what I wanted for our bedroom.

  3. Love your home! We have very similar decorating styles! When I finally get my new master bedroom I may have to copy the monogram above the bed and the pallet sign above the desk! Love them!

  4. West Elm's picture looks so glam. What I wouldn't give to have a bedroom like that, with that kind of metallic chandelier as a center piece to a sleek arrangement of pillows and thick blanket on a bed. And I must say, the color scheme jibes well. Though you have a lot of other rooms here to be inspired by. And they're pretty inspiring! Thanks for sharing!
