Show & Tell – Embarrassing Moments
Today I’m linking up with Andrea for her Show & Tell series and on the calendar today is sharing an embarrassing moment. At 45 the embarrassing moments have stacked up quite nicely but if I think back to that one embarrassing moment that may have had the biggest impact this is it!
Remember junior high? That awkward phase in life with the extra large glasses and too big teeth? Oh…was that just me? I was not an attractive teenager so life was hard as it was. To top it off I also stood out standing inches above my friends. Awkward was really an understatement.
Flash back to my 7th grade English class with sweet Mrs. Wilson. We happened to be working on prefixes…which honestly shocks me a little since it seems my kids are learning this stuff in like 4th grade now…and that day she would call out a prefix and ask the class to respond with words using that prefix. I had a few confidence issues surfacing already due to the super sized glasses and the braces but a word popped into my head and I was so proud and raised my hand. She called on me and I blurted out….wait for it…. FORE-play. Yep, totally did. I knew immediately when the boys in class fell out of their chairs laughing that what I said was not appropriate but thankfully she handled it very gracefully. It was a huge turning point for me and I’m pretty sure from then on I never, ever raised my hand in class again and to this day if someone asks me a simple question in front of a group I totally freeze.
Junior High was full of embarrassing moments and I remember singing Flashdance-What a Feeling in the car with my friends and a mom on the way to the skating rink. In my head I remember thinking I could not believe this mom was letting us listen to this song because what I thought they were singing was “take your pants down and make it happen”. Still to this day if I hear this song I totally remember that moment. Oh my! Listen to it…I promise I wasn’t crazy!
What a feeling
Being’s believing
I can have it all
Now I’m dancing for my life
Take your passion
And make it happen
Pictures come alive
You can dance right through your life
Whew…thank goodness for the internet where we can look up lyrics immediately and search for words beginning with the prefix FORE so we can check out the definition prior to opening our mouth!

Have a great Tuesday!
OK, so I am sitting on a plane right now and literally just LOL!!!! Even the guy next to me looked over. That is hilarious! Love it!
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Ha ha…thank goodness we can laugh about junior high now. Junior high can be painful, but I didn't even know it when I was going through it. 🙂
Oh goodness…I wish I could block out a little more but it was definitely a defining time in my life that took lots of years to get over. I pretty much hold my breath the entire two years one of my kids is going through it. Have a great week!
I am not on an airplane but I literally just spit out my toast !!! I laughed so hard at both of those moments!
Glad to be of service! Have a great week.
So funny! I have my fair share of embarrassing moments in junior/high school.

I'm sure there are many I have blocked out! Small towns right?!!
Oh. My. Gosh. How terrible! Why are middle school boys so awful!? That sounds like a super embarrassing moment, but makes an absolutely awesome story!

Hahaha! I literally laughed out loud. I have done this more times than I care to admit. In fact, there are still songs where I don't know the correct lyrics and my hubby makes fun of me! =)
Bahahahahahahahah!!!!!!! Hysterical and totally embarrassing!!!
Like totally….haha. Have a great week Megan!
I seriously think I just peed in my pants!!! I'm awful with the words to songs so I can totally relate. And, how is it possible that I have never heard the fore-play story before?!
Haha..not one of my prouder moments!
